7 Months Highlights

After we got back from vacation, Mommy and I started going back to work full-time.  I had fun being at the office all day, Monday through Thursday!  I loved showing off for all the pastors and the secretaries!  I got lots of hugs and kisses.  “3”, who shares an office with Mommy (she’s like my third grandma, so I call her 3), got me a fun puppy toy.  When I push his feet and hands and ears, he sings songs and teaches me things!  I liked typing on Mommy’s computer and playing with things on her desk.  I spent a lot of time scooting around on the floor.  I would put my hands out in front of me and drag my legs behind.  Sometimes I would move like an inchworm!  Mommy and her coworkers kept cheering for me to crawl, so I worked really hard at learning!

Wearing Grammy's glasses.

My First Haircut
I had my first haircut this month, on August 10th.  Everybody was impressed with how good and still I was.  Mommy says it’s because I’m already used to a razor because Daddy “helps me shave” with his!

I loved playing with the remote controls.

A sweet lady at our church made this Noah's Ark quilt for me.

I love to swing in my swing in our backyard.  It's hanging from a big old oak tree.

This bunny is my favorite, but he always makes me so sleepy.

I went "swimming" in my baby pool.  Grammy came over to see me.  I am wearing my pirate towel in this picture.

On August 23rd, I started crawling for real.  After that, there was no stopping me!  I’m like Lightning McQueen, I’m so speedy!

Things Look a Little Different Around Here...

Hi DD,

I decided to change up the look of the blog.  I was having trouble getting pictures to fit the way I wanted them, so I am going to try this wider format. Don't be surprised if the background changes.  ;)  I just didn't want you to think you'd stumbled on to the wrong blog!

My First Vacation

Dear DD,

I’ve taken a few little weekend trips in my short life – Concan, Rockport, & Houston to name a few.  But I got to take my first real vacation this summer, right after my 6 month birthday.  Mommy and Daddy and Grammy took me to New Mexico!  We went to a place called Cloudcroft, up high in the mountains.
Mommy and Daddy chose it because the weather is cooler there.  It was a long drive, but Grammy and Mommy took turns sitting in the back seat and keeping me company.  Mommy said I was a good sport about being in the car that long.  I didn’t really like it when we drove in the mountains because my ears were popping and the curvy roads made me uncomfortable.
Mommy bought me this funny mustache pacifier to make the trip more fun for me.
While we were in New Mexico, we got to hike and explore.  Here I am in my hiking boots!

I liked looking at the leaves and pine cones.
I got to see a waterfall.  It wasn’t a very powerful waterfall because of the drought.  Mostly, I just had fun hanging out with Mommy and Daddy and Grammy.  Grammy taught me to do “Patty Cake”, so I practiced clapping and patting cakes a lot.  After we left New Mexico, we drove to Dallas.  My Uncle Jason, Aunt Christie, and my cousins, Jacob, Cody, and Ridgely came down from Kansas to see me there.  The last time they saw me I was barely 3 months old, so they were impressed with how much I’d grown!  Grandma and Grandpa also came to Dallas to see me!

I gave lots of my very best smiles to everyone.  I spent a lot of time sticking out my tongue.  That was my newest trick!  I flirted with anyone and everyone.  I can make almost anyone smile!  While we were in Dallas, we went to the Dallas Children’s Aquarium at the State Fair Grounds.  I saw a bunch of funny looking fish and even some sharks!  This big turtle was my favorite, though.  All in all, my first big vacation was a pretty fun adventure.

Mommy and Daddy think I'm the sweetest boy EVER!

Wow, was it really 4 months ago?

Dear DD,

I am so sorry that I've abandoned the blog for the past 4 months.  As Landry has become more mobile and active, I've found it more challenging to make time to sit at the computer and blog!  That’s not a complaint at all, I’m delighted he’s developing so well.  But I want to be sure I’m available to spend time with him and interact with him.   However, YOU are so important to us, and I don’t want to neglect you.  You are always in our thoughts and prayers.  So, I’m going to try to update you on all kinds of things that have happened since July.  I’m aiming to keep them in order, but as things occur to me, I may throw in a post or a picture out of sequence.  I will also send you photos in a package in the mail in the next week or so.  Having said all of that, let’s dive in!  New posts coming right up!  Oh, and I know you're dying to see recent pictures of our boy, so here's a teaser!

I took this one in Austin at a Starbucks.  My brother was in town for a Worship Leaders Conference and we met him there for a short visit.  Landry liked Uncle Jason's cap.  :)  He is just as sweet at sugar.  Look at that sweetness!  We are so in love!

PROGRESS REPORT #2

Dear DD,

Here's another month-by-month comparison for you! I have my 6-month pediatrician visit tomorrow.  Mommy can't wait to find out what my doctor has to say!  Mommy thinks I'm perfect!

Love,
Landry

6 Months

Dear DD,

Happy 4th of July!  Today was my half-birthday!  I'm 6 months old!  Mommy says I have the cutest dimples in my cheeks and chin.  I decided to show them off for you today!  I didn't feel like sitting up tall today, so you can't tell, but I'm a lot taller than my lamb now!  I wanted to play with my toes today.

And then I wanted to do push-ups so I can get strong muscles!

Then Jovie came to see me.  But I was talking too loud and she wanted to leave, so Daddy had to hold her in the chair by me for this picture!  I love my kitty and my puppy.  They are soft.

Mommy told me to tell you that I'm rolling over from front to back and back to front.  I'm pushing up and locking my elbows and getting close to crawling.  I'm babbling dadadadada, mumumumum, bababababa, ggggg.  I reach for things I want, drink out of a sippy cup, and love trying new foods.  I can sit up with help, and can almost do it by myself.  I love standing (with help), and I like to play stand up/sit down!  I'm sleeping through the night (usually about 12 hours!), and I take 2-3 good naps a day.

DD, I hope you had a good day today.  We just stayed home because we are packing to go on a vacation.  We went to my grandma and grandpa's house tonight for dinner.  Grammy came too, and so did my Uncle Blake, Aunt Renae, and 2 of my cousins:  Ashley and Chelsea.  It was pretty fun, but I got sleepy.  I didn't even stay awake for fireworks!  I did get to eat some watermelon mixed with my oatmeal, though.  I like the taste of watermelon!  Have a good weekend, DD!

Love,
Landry

Am I Crawling Yet?

Dear DD,

I have been trying so hard to crawl!  Some of my friends in the nursery can crawl, and I have been watching carefully to figure out how it's done.  So far, I can do this:

I can almost get my knees up under me.

But then I get really tired.

Let's see...Maybe I need to move my arms more?

 Am I crawling yet?

 This is hard work!

Hey!  How YOU doin'?

I guess I'll just have to practice looking cute for now.  Crawling will come another day!
